M1941 M1 Carbine Scabbard (Cavalry /linesman's scabbard)

PhotobucketPhotobucket

First production scabbard made for the M1 carbine, these were only manufactured in limited numbers during WW2, this holster/scabbard was original designed for use by the U.S. Cavalry and illustrated as such in the U.S. Army Hand book from 1941, however instead most were used by linesmens, and artillery troops, who need to be able to carry there M1 carbine with both hands and there shoulders free from there weapon, while they performed there frontline duties. This item in fact stayed into production well into the Vietnam area, most original models were manufactured at Government arsenals, instead of government contracts such as Kadin or Boyt for example. The scabbard is for the full stock M1 Carbine pre-dates the airborne type by over a year, and although made throughout the war, the M 1941 scabbard was only used in limited numbers although production continued until the end of the war. These scabbards were never issued to the very units it was designed for, due to the demise of the cavalry's, horse mounted U.S. soldier in 1942. Our reproduction is in the transitional style of manufacture from about 1943 -1944 with an O.D. 3  canvas body and O.D.7  webbing and edging, the body is fully double lined, with an internal 2" webbing re-enforcement, the tip of the scabbard is also re-enforced to extend the life of the holster.  The colour scheme has been faithfully copied from the original.

M1910 Canteen Cover (M1942 pattern)

Photobucket

Photobucket

The standard model canteen cover used for the majority of WWII.The cover is a copy of the early production models, with seven lines of front stitching with a 3/8 th of an inch gap between each row. The cover is also lined with the correct waste wool felt insulation as per the original. This model was standardised at the end of 1941 and its construction was based on the M1941 calvary model. This cover replaced the late style M1910 pattern. The main difference between this version, and the previous models are the over all sizing of the cover, and simplification in the method of manufacture. The main reason for this redesign was due to the wider seam on the rim of the stainless steel version of the M1910 canteen, which meant the model would not fit into the M1910 pattern cover.

(PLEASE NOTE THE CANTEEN AND CUP ARE NOT INCLUDED)

Introduced to supplement and also replace the standard model pouches for the Thompson sub-machine gun. The bag for the carrying of 30 round clips was much more practical. Our reproduction is of the First pattern model, which is sometimes associated with Airborne troops (although this item was general issue for all troops equipped with a Thompson Sub-machine gun ), the bag is constructed from in canvas with a tan/Brown Khaki webbing shoulder strap, and is made to the correct sizes unlike some of the reproductions from Far East Asia, and South America. This type of bag was standard issue for the European theatre of operations, and is ideal for any D-Day onwards impression. The colour scheme has been faithfully copied from the original.

M1943 Suspenders, in O.D.3 (light shade) for the front straps and O.D3 (mid olive shade) for the shoulder straps. These have been constructed using new O.D.3 Class III and Type IIa webbing. All fittings are genuine U.S. made hardware to the original Mil-spec numbers, with the rear side adjusters being the early style. We have also made these longer (at the rear) to accommodate the larger/ taller re-enactors of today, these have had approximately 6" inches of extra webbing added to the rear straps for a better fit with the correct look.

M1943 Folding E-Tool Cover (1st pattern)

Photobucket

The first pattern cover for the M1943 folding shovel. This type of entrenching tool was first issued around about D-Day, and was one of the first two tone (transitional) colour scheme items to see wide service during and immediately after the Normandy landings. These covers are slightly smaller in size to the second pattern model which first appeared in about 1945, unlike the later models this version has a fixed style M1910 hook stitched to the back, in a similar way to other WWII items such as a water canteen cover. Our reproduction follows the correct first production colour scheme of the first production runs, with a O.D. 7 (1944 shade sandy tan) canvas body and O.D.3 Class III webbing and Type IIa edging, the cover is also lined with natural russet tan leather, and re-enforced on the back with a separate webbing O.D.7 (dark olive) panel as per the original models.

This is a reproduction of the 1st pattern bladder canteen cover, this item was test and developed from 1943 onwards, as a possible replacement for the M1910 canteen in the Pacific theatre. The design was extensively trailed throughout 1943 by members of the Army and marines as per of the 1943 review and overhaul program which covered all aspects of U.S. Army combat equipment. The flexible canteen design went through a number of chances during its deployment, and are replica is base on the first production type, this cover did see some limited use during WWII and was latter issue during the early stages of the Vietnam conflict. Please note the cover has the correct stenciled markings as used on this item, it is also supplied with the extra M1910 pattern double hook that is required to fit this to your belt kit.

TO FIT: (First place the standard M1910 Double Hook to your rifle or pistol belt, then fold the "U" hook on the cover inwards and clip through the base of the standard hook)

This is a reproduction of the M1944 pattern pouch for the M3/M3A1 Grease Gun, these were made entirely of canvas and not webbing as per the pre and early war Thompson pouches. Although similar to the 3 cell Thompson pouch which appeared about the same time they have much longer pockets to accommodate the 32 rd magazines based on the Sten/Mp28 style of magazines which were used with the grease gun. The M3 and later M3A1 models remain in U.S. service form the middle of WW2 up to the Vietnam War under contract DSA 100-4479-8465-577-4915 . This item is manufactured in 15 oz O.D.7 (dark Olive shade) with type IIa edge binding and Class III webbing in (O.D.3 Mid olive). £25.00

M1944 M2 carbine pouch (1st pattern 2 x 30 round)

Photobucket

This is a reproduction of the very rare first pattern pouch, which was manufactured and issued for the new 30 round carbine magazines. This design was only ever made in very limited numbers, with production being very sort lived, and terminated at the end of WWII. The pouch itself is basically a resized standard carbine 2 cell pouch, with added width and length in the design to allow for the longer curved shape of the banana type magazines. This design was replaced in 1948 by a box style pouch of a similar size, which was based on this design. Our reproduction has been manufactured in 14 oz O.D.3 (1943-44 Sandy shade) canvas with Class IIa edge binding and class III webbing in O.D.3 ( Olive Shade). See plate (D illustration #6) of (US Army Combat Equipments 1910-88 ) for more information

WWII General Purpose Ammunition bag (Early style)

This is a reproduction General Purpose Ammunition bag base on my early 1943 date HARIAN manufactured example. This design has both snap hooks attached to the integral side strap on the bag, with the distinctive box lid, and angled side pleats. The two snap hooks are attached to the Type IIa webbing around the sides of the bag which is then in turn stitched to the side panel thus making the bag loads carrying capacity much higher.  This double snap hook arrangement feature was deleted on later production, in favour of a single snap hook and "D" ring style. The bag is constructed from O.D.3 canvas, with a type IIa webbing used for the integral carry strap around the side panel and Class III webbing for the main strap close. The bag also includes the internal pocket in light weight canvas which is complete with drain hole eyelet at the base. All Dee's are new brass, all snap hooks, ball end tips and the 1" Tablar slide are all genuine mils-spec items, from U.S Government contractors. The bag comes complete with the M1936 pattern carry strap, which we have made to the longer length of the latter snap hook type models. This item is made from 14 oz OD 3 canvas, which has been colour matched to original WWII samples.

Canvas Colours

The transitional coloured items

These are a Sand/tan shade of Khaki as in keeping with that correct 1943 to 1944 transitional colour,  and are most certainly have not been made in an orange shade of Khaki, again due to the mixture of yellows/browns and greens within the dye, my digital camera has trouble reading the colour balance correctly.

My O.D.3 Shade

All other items are GREEN and not in any shape or form YELLOW. the O.D.3 canvas is the mid olive shade, based on the colour used on some BOYT contracts throughout 1942, this is darker than the "O.D.3" shade used by certain manufactuer's and is most certainly not the Pea green shade being banded around by some as O.D.3. If you are unsure about the shade then a sample can be post to you, before you make a purchase.

The Colour match

All canvas colours are designed to viewed OUTSIDE in GOOD daylight to get the correct actual shade. The binding and Type IIa strap webbing will look different to the canvas in colour if view under tungsten or fluorescent light, this is due to the weave of the cotton fabric and the dying and finishing process. Again variances in colour and shade between the different pictures, is down to my camera, all pictures angles of each item, were taken using the same sample, and at same time.
